Senegal Healthcare: Local doctor opens first traditional Chinese medicine clinic in Dakar

A traditional Chinese clinic is now open in Senegal, run by a local who graduated from a university in Beijing. The doctor hopes to convince skeptical Africans to treat diseases using traditional Chinese medicine.
A healthy nation is her goal. Dr. Diop works to alleviate pain from numerous life-limiting conditions through acupuncture, Chinese dietetics and cupping medicine.

And with a wide variety of medicinal plants, from the Chinese pharmacopoeia, unique remedies are created to relieve various ailments.

Formal health centres are still the primary option among locals

Dr. Diop is not despairing. With an office located in the premises of the Confucius Institute of the Cheikh Anta Diop University of Dakar, she hopes to encourage the uptake of Chinese medicine
