In Nepal, at least 49 people have been killed and 22 injured, after a Bangladeshi airliner crashed and burst into flames while landing at an airport in the capital Kathmandu.
EYEWITNESS "I saw the aircraft come. Usually it comes from this direction, but it came from the opposite direction on Monday. The aircraft was shaking violently as it got near the airstrip. I was wondering why it was flying so fast. The plane narrowly escaped a crash with a Malindo airliner. But it was upside down before hitting the ground."
The jet was carrying 67 passengers and 4 crew members, when the incident happened at 2:15 p.m. on Monday. The Bombardier Q-400 series aircraft was operated by US-Bangla Airlines -- a privately owned Bangladeshi airline -- and was flying from Bangladesh's capital Dhaka. Nepalese airport authorities said the incident was a result of the pilot's missed approach. But US-Bangla Airlines put the blame on the air traffic control.
