The Netherlands unveiled a monument on Monday in memory of the people who died on board Malaysian Airways flight MH17. The ceremony took place exactly three years after the passenger jet was shot down over Ukraine.
The monument was erected near the Amsterdam airport from which the plane departed. It was unveiled in the presence of the victims’ relatives, Dutch royalty and Prime Minister Mark Rutte.
International investigators continue their probe aimed at bringing to justice those responsible for shooting down flight MH17 and killing 298 passengers and crew.
A Dutch-led international criminal probe concluded a missile was fired from rebel-held territory by a mobile launcher trucked in from Russia. Moscow has denied any involvement and called the conclusions politically biased.
