Iraq Reconstruction: Russia calls for respect of Iraq's territorial integrity

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov is calling on the international community to respect Iraq's sovereignty and territorial integrity. This follows a meeting with Iraq's foreign minister, Ibrahim al-Jaafari.
SERGEY LAVROV RUSSIAN FOREIGN MINISTER "We are firm in our position that all external players should support these processes and respect the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Iraq."
Lavrov said Moscow supports the Iraqi government's efforts to secure a national accord, taking into account different ethnic, religious and political groups. Baghdad is at odds with the Iraqi Kurdish regional authority over an independence referendum last September. Iraqi government forces dislodged Kurdish fighters from several disputed areas in October.
