China's Foreign Ministry said it sent a stern message to the US, after Trump signed the "Taiwan Travel Act".
A spokesperson said the move violates the One-China Policy and the Three China-US Joint Communiques. China's American Embassy also strongly protested, adding that the One-China Policy is the foundation for relations between China and the US.
Meanwhile, the State Council's Taiwan Affairs office said the US is sending a serious false signal to Taiwan's separatists.
The office warned them that "relying on foreign forces to support their position will eventually destroy themselves."
