Russian police have disbanded an opposition rally in St. Petersburg, hometown of President Vladimir Putin. Protesters had blocked traffic and attempted to break through police cordons. The demonstration was held on Putin's 65th birthday by supporters of opposition leader Alexei Navalny, urging them to help him get registered for the next presidential election. Putin has not announced whether he would enter the race.
