Chinese Vice Premier Liu He has spoken by phone with US Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin. He urged efforts to maintain the stability of trade ties.

On Saturday morning, Mnuchin shared the latest in the US's Section 301 investigation into whether Chinese practices are harming American intellectual property interests. Liu said China is ready and able to safeguard its national interests. He said the probe violates global trade rules, and is detrimental to the interests of China, the US, and the whole world. Liu said he hoped both sides will stay rational and cooperate to stabilize relations.
