As we bid adieu to the Year of the Monkey and say hello to the Year of the Rooster, a popular topic of conversation is the Chinese zodiac for the year ahead.
Each animal in the Chinese zodiac has its own characteristics and they tie in closely with luck. Compared to the dragon or the tiger, the rooster may not be considered special, but according to forecasts, 2017 will definitely be interesting.
In the 12-year cycle of animals in the Chinese zodiac, the rooster is the only bird, sandwiched between the monkey and the dog. It is the epitome of fidelity and punctuality, waking up our ancestors who had no alarm clocks with its crowing to make sure they started work on time.
These characteristics are also believed to belong to people born in the year of rooster. Other qualities "roosters" might have include being social and liking to be the center of attention.
They are as proud of their homes as they are of themselves. They are also extremely organized individuals as evidenced by the fact that their homes are always neat. In Chinese culture, roosters have a symbolic history, as they are believed to be able to exorcise evil spirits.
