The three-day May Day holiday in China is a time to enjoy spring with families and friends -- be it in the form of experiencing nature, or the diverse traditions and cultures of the country.
At Qinren Cave in Hunan Province, central China, visitors are treated to local tea and wine, and acquainting themselves with the traditional ways of making bean curd and sugar. In Yangzhou city of east China's Jiangsu Province, tables are set up along the river for breakfast. Tourists are enjoying local delicacies while watching folk operas. Down south in Foshan of Guangdong Province, the National Lion Dance Competition is happening at Tianhu park. In its 12th year now, the annual event has become a tourist attraction and a window for showcasing the local culture. Then over in Weihai, east China's Shandong province, a Sand Sculpture Art Festival offers a glimpse into people's pride in the nation's growing strength. And finally, in Jinan, games are bringing generations of people together. These "children" from the 60's, 70's and 80's are all having fun reliving their "good old days".
