Infrastructure development in a landlocked and mountainous country like Nepal faces many challenges. But as cooperation between China and Nepal under the Belt and Road Initiative deepens, Beijing may offer unique and world-leading infrastructure building experience to its neighbor.
In an exclusive interview with CGTN, Nepal's Infrastructure Minister Bir Bahadur Balayar said cooperation projects to build railways and airports are the top priority of the country's future planning. He noted that the projects will not only help bring large cities in Nepal together, but also improve the country's connectivity with the rest of the world.
He also praised China for sharing its seaports with Nepal to help transport the country's goods out of inland areas.
Talking about the political environment for future bilateral cooperation, Balayar said Nepal upholds the one-China policy in dealing with businesses from China and other Asian countries, adding that differences in political systems will not hinder economic collaboration.
