The former mayor of north China's Tianjin Municipality Huang Xingguo was sentenced on Monday to 12 years in jail for accepting bribes. The verdict was made by the Intermediate People's Court of Shijiazhuang City, Hebei Province.
Huang was also fined three million yuan (450,000 US dollars).
He was found guilty of taking advantage of his various positions in Tianjin and east China's Zhejiang Province between 1994 and 2016 to seek benefits valued at over 40 million yuan.
Huang has been investigated on suspicion of corruption since September last year.
