Syria investigator resigns, citing lack of support

A member of the United Nations Commission of Inquiry on Syria has resigned, citing a lack of political backing from the UN.
Carla del Ponte said the Commission was not backed by any political will, and that she would have no power as long as the Security Council does nothing.
Earlier this year, when the Commission reported on Syrian government aircraft deliberately bombing a humanitarian convoy, del Ponte hinted at her frustration with the inability to bring the perpetrators to justice.
The UN Commission of Inquiry said in a statement that investigations in Syria would continue.
