China-US Trade Tensions: China: Tariffs on US goods are in response to tariffs on steel and aluminum

China has stressed that the new tariffs imposed on the US goods are in response to the US tariffs on steel and aluminum, and China is not afraid of a trade war.
GENG SHUANG CHINESE FOREIGN MINISTRY SPOKESMAN "The measures taken by China are in response to the US policy on steel and aluminum tariffs, or the so-called 232 tariffs. It is to balance the loss of 232 tariffs, instead of the 301 investigation. That is something that we must make clear. China has repeatedly said that it is not willing and will not start a trade war. But China is not afraid of a trade war. If someone has already started a trade war just in front of our doorstep, we will fight to the end."
The Foreign Ministry also stressed that China's door for negotiation has always been open. But negotiations should reflect mutual understanding and mutual accommodation, instead of pricing out the market or agitating relations.
