China's Minister of Agriculture Han Changfu says implementing the country's Rural Vitalization Strategy will be a top priority in future work. The minister spoke at a Ministry of Agriculture press conference this morning in Beijing. He added that extra attention will be given to upgrading the agriculture sector.
HAN CHANGFU MINISTER OF AGRICULTURE "The first task is to make agriculture a promising industry. Second is to make farming an appealing job for people. Farming is traditionally considered an uneasy job, but with progress in science and technology, it will become a more attractive job. Third is to make rural areas a beautiful home to live and work in peacefully. We want to make sure people who live in rural areas can have the same public facilities and services, as people who live in urban areas. Of course, all of this will go through a long process, but I have faith in it."
Han said the ministry has conducted a comprehensive survey on conditions in rural areas, including political, economical, ecological, and social conditions. He said the survey's aim is to provide first-hand materials for the Rural Vitalization Strategy.
