China's consumer inflation up 1.8% in August

China's consumer price index (CPI), a main gauge of inflation, rose by 1.8 percent year-on-year in August, and the producer price index (PPI), which measures costs of goods at the factory gate, rose by 6.3 percent year-on-year, said the National Bureau of Statistics on Saturday.
