Anna Chan Chennault Dies: Widow of Flying Tigers' general dies at 94

Anna Chan Chennault has died at the age of 94 in Washington, three months after suffering a stroke. She was the widow of World War Two Flying Tigers squadron leader Claire Lee Chennault. Anna was also known by her Chinese name, Chen Xiangmei. She was born in Beijing in 1923.
She met her husband while working as a war correspondent and they married in 1947. Anna had been active in US political and diplomatic fields. She was dedicated to facilitating friendship and cooperation between the United States and China. She was often called a "folk ambassador" between the two countries. Anna also wrote novels, poetry and non-fiction books.
