The American was back on the court after 15-month following the birth of her baby girl, at the Indian Wells tournament beating Kazakh Zarina Diyas in straight sets.
BILLE JEAN KING WTA FOUNDER "Serena, it would be great if she comes here but, Serena's trying to play again, we'll see. She's got to get very fit, she's probably not fit yet. It would be great to see her in October here in Singapore, I would like it. Especially if I get to come back, I'm not sure if I can but if I can I want to come back. It would make me really happy to give her the trophy or whoever wins, but it would be nice you know, five years ago I gave her the trophy and, book endings right?"
