The World Taekwondo Championships are currently being held in South Korea. And this year, a demonstration team from the DPRK will perform in the country for the first time in 10 years. The visit comes amid high tensions on the Korean Peninsula, but as CGTN's Shane Hahm reports, it could potentially ease tension between the two countries.
South Korean President Moon Jae-in has high hopes for reconciliation through cultural and humanitarian exchanges. He hopes this event could serve as a springboard to next year's Winter Olympics, hosted by South Korea.
If this visit is any indication of the Moon administration's policies in dealing with Pyongyang, taekwondo could ultimately serve as the kick-start to better ties.
