French President Emmanuel Macron held a defense and security council meeting Saturday with ministers and senior officials. The meeting was held one day after the attack in the country's south, which saw an Islamist gunman kill four. ISIL has claimed responsibility for the attack. Macron said security services are verifying the claim. Since 2015, more than 240 people have been killed in France in attacks by assailants who pledged allegiance to the Islamic State or were inspired by the terror group.
