The China-US Comprehensive Economic Dialogue (CED) will get underway in Washington on Wednesday, with senior Chinese and US officials set to discuss bilateral economic and trade issues.

Since US President Donald Trump took office, there have been concerns that he will shift the US towards protectionism and separatism. However, many state governors have voiced their support for strengthened trade relations between the two nations.
Chinese President Xi Jinping’s first summit with Trump resulted in a 100-day deadline to resolve a list of contentious topics, ranging from a resumption of trade in banned food imports and exports and giving US credit card companies more access to the Chinese market.
