Photography exhibition attracts int'l enthusiasts in S China

Picturesque scenery and a plethora of photos, that's what the Dali International Photography Exhibition has to offer during the five-day event. The exhibition opened at the ancient town Dali, in China's southern Yunnan Province, attracting photographers and enthusiasts from around the world.
Dali is one of the top tourist destinations in China's south, with pleasant weather, gorgeous riverside scenery, and well preserved local culture. The city's annual photography exhibition has contributed to its popularity, giving visitors another reason to visit in the summer.

The Dali International Photography Exhibition, now in its seventh year, plays host to professional photographers from around the world. Opening on Saturday and closing on Wednesday, the event has516 sub-exhibitions, 125 of which are international. They showcase more than 20, 000 photos taken by nearly 1,000 photographers from more than 30 countries and regions, making it the world's largest photo exhibition in recent years.

Bao Lihui, director of Dali International Photography Exhibition said, “For this session, we've invited chairmen from many photography festivals from around the world, including those from south Asia, Southeast Asia, and some developed countries. We have more than 100 international sub-exhibitions, which is the most in the event's history. We hope to better promote the photography art of China and of Asia, to viewers, which come from around the world."

The event displays pieces created by some of the top photographers from around the globe. It has also attracted many international exhibitors.
Didier Defays, photographer from France thinks the event links other Asian countries, so it's very important.
Su Wei, photojournalist from Hong Kong Commercial Daily said, “I've been to many photo exhibitions, but this one is really special because there is a strong ethnic atmosphere here in Dali. More and more amateurs from far and wide are attending, they are here for both the photography art and the wonderful nature and culture here. It has also grown more and more international.”
The event has also been recognized by China's National Tourism Administration as one of the 10 most influential festivals in the country.
