China's first ever platform to share know-how and research on microscopic systems and microchips was launched this week, providing access to a large database that will help improve homegrown skills in the high-tech sector.
Initiated by China Electronics Technology Group Corporation (CETC), the platform for integrated circuits and microsystems enables the public to have access to the CETC intellectual property database, software tools, and production line.
CETC is a state-owned enterprise that develops and manufactures electronic and communications equipment, computers and information systems, as well as software development.
The platform also encourages others to submit their research results online, promoting the development of integrated circuits and microsystems in the field. It is also able to provide professional services for the industry of integrated circuits and microsystems with a solid research base, said Liu Liehong, general manager of the CETC.

China has been calling for improving the development of high-tech chips in the past years, as its electronic information industry has long depended on imported chips.
"It is important to develop the technology of integrated circuits and microsystems, and improve the whole industry," said Xiong Qunli, CETC president.
"It not only goes with the tide of information technology development but also meets the needs of the development of integrated and intellectual equipment."
