The Fete de la Music of France took place in Shanghai over the weekend for the 12th straight year. The three-day festival opened at the Shanghai Min'sheng Art Museum in Pudong. Liu Renzhi reports.
Sinan Mansions in Jing'an District hosted a children's choir, an African percussion ensemble and a fluorescence dance.
WANG PUSHENG "They were very passionate and that's how it should be for Fete de la Music. Summer should be happy."
ARNE WERNINK BAND "BLUES & JAZZ" "I tried to speak to them. My Chinese is not so good. I let the music speak for what it is."
The organizer, the French Embassy in Beijing, invited 70 Chinese bands and eight French groups to tour 12 cities including Beijing, Ningbo and Wuhan.
CLEA VINCENT, SINGER BAND "CLEA VINCENT" "I feel a very open spirit here. The Chinese audience appreciates French pop music. I'm glad to sing here even though people don't know the language."
YLENIR MORANDO SPECTATOR "It's a young atmosphere. Music styles are very different, groups are French, Chinese or mix. It's good to find all these in Shanghai."
LIN SIHUI SPECTATOR "I know a little bit about the festival. I felt the music of the first band was very lively, and the second band had a mysterious sound. I liked both styles."
Another 20 places in town staged festival performances over the weekend. Liu Renzhi, ICS FOR CGTN, SH.
