Units 3 and 4 of the Tianwan Nuclear Power Plant, which was jointly built by China and Russia, are currently under construction in Lianyungang, east China’s Jiangsu Province. As a key figure in the construction of this huge project, Wei Xiaopeng is one of the men responsible for welding the primary conduit. To prevent any risk of a nuclear radiation leak, this job needs world-class technical skills. Meanwhile, long-term stamina is also needed, as most of Wei’s time working on the conduit is spent in a space with a diameter of only 90cm. Despite the difficulties facing him, Wei maintains a high-standard of welding to guarantee the safety of the nuclear power plant. With the rapid development of China’s economy, enormous technological and infrastructure projects have mushroomed across the country one after the other. Behind these incredible feats of engineering are numerous craftsmen with unrivalled skills and knowledge. In a bid to better understand the secrets behind China’s technical marvels, CGTN followed these master craftsmen to unveil the stunning work they have contributed towards the Chinese dream!
