Spain's Supreme Court on Monday rejected the state prosecutor's request to re-issue a European arrest warrant for former Catalan leader Carles Puigdemont, who is in Denmark to give a speech.

The decision came shortly after the speaker of the Catalan parliament proposed the self-exiled former leader as a candidate to form a new government.
