What's a Shero? A "she-hero". Three Chinese are among 17 modern-day role models honored as one-of-a-kind Barbie figures for International Women's Day. Captain of the women's national volleyball team Hui Ruoqi, actress Guan Xiaotong, and ballet dancer Tan Yuanyuan were chosen by American Barbie doll manufacturer Mattel. Since 2015, Barbie has honored women who continue to break boundaries in their "Shero" program.
The Jiuzhaigou scenic area in Southwest China is known as a paradise on earth. It's now reopened, after being hit by a devastating magnitude-7 earthquake last August. Jiuzhaigou is on the UNESCO World Natural Heritage List. Thousands are drawn by its stunning landscapes and waterfalls.
Calling T'Chaka! Marvel's box office smash "Black Panther" is hitting Chinese cinemas. The film has topped 900 million US dollars worldwide. Advance ticket sales have already surpassed those for "Spider-Man: Homecoming" by almost a third. Forecasts say it will pass the 1-billion-dollar mark after its opening in China.
