When it comes to tech ventures – especially artificial intelligence (AI) – Israel and China are "a match made in heaven", says one industry analyst.
Chinese discipline and methodology combined with Israeli "out of the box" thinking, improvisation and a willingness to challenge existing standards is key to the technological cooperation between the two countries.
"The openness towards cooperation, the openness towards doing R&D together, the openness here towards creating new products for a new market – this is something that makes a difference," said Ilan Maor, vice president of Israel-Asia Chamber of Commerce.
The bottom line
In 2016, China's investment in Israel skyrocketed, hitting a record high of 16.5 billion US dollars, which is ten times more than in 2015.
The hottest new tech corners: AI, drones, robots, self-automated machinery, even self-driving cars, are all technologies developed by Israel in collaboration with China.
All things medical
CGTN’s Big Picture team in Israel visited a startup using algorithm technology to spot deadly diseases. The AI tech saves patients' lives, as well as money for healthcare providers, insurance companies and governments.
As China’s senior population increases, interest in medical ventures continues expanding.
