Beijing and Islamabad have agreed to focus more on socio-economic development aspects of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, in the next phase of the project. The two sides will further discuss how to achieve this goal during Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan's visit to China. Our correspondent Danial Khan has more in this report.
Prime minister Imran Khan is on a four day visit to China. Pakistan attaches high hopes with the visit. Many believe that high level contacts are an important part of the ever-growing bilateral relationship.
SHAFQAT MAHMOOD, FEDERAL MINISTER NATIONAL HISTORY AND LITERARY HERITAGE "When it comes to China, the entire country is one, we have welcomed in the past the CPEC, the Chinese investment and will continue to welcome it, we hope to work very closely with China not only in CPEC but improving the regional situation in many areas including development and security."
This is Prime Minister's first official visit. He wants to further strengthen the close ties between the two countries hoping China might help Pakistan come out of the economic crisis."
IMRAN KHAN PRIME MINISTER OF PAKISTAN "With the CPEC it has given a great opportunity to Pakistan to bring in foreign investment to get out of the difficult economic situation which we are in, we feel that this is a great opportunity."
During his visit, Imran Khan will also visit Shanghai to participate in the First China International Import Expo as a guest of honor. Pakistan hopes the two sides will continue their engagements at all levels to not only enhance their strategic partnership but also continue to promote regional peace and stability.
