A press conference was held in Beijing on Tuesday during the first session of the 13th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), where leaders of democratic parties and the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce took questions from reporters.
Here are some highlights:
On the political party system
The CPC-led system of multiparty cooperation and consultation is a new political party system made and created in China, which could provide a solution for other countries, Hao Mingjin, chairman of the China Democratic National Construction Association (CDNCA), said when recalling a recent comment by Chinese President Xi Jinping that this is "a new type of party system growing from China's soil."
Xi attended a panel discussion with political advisers on March 4, and stressed that the Chinese political party system fits China's reality and culture.
Ding Zhongli, chairperson of the China Democratic League (CDL), also agreed with Xi, saying that multiparty cooperation pulls the ruling Party and supporting parties together to plan and negotiate China’s development.
