The Sergei Skripal poisoning case should be properly handled through dialogue between the UK and Russia, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Hua Chunying said at a regular press conference on Tuesday.
China firmly opposes any use of chemical weapons and urges relevant parties to comply with international law and principles, avoiding any measures that could intensify the current situation, she said.
Earlier on Monday, US President Donald Trump announced the expulsion of 60 Russian diplomats in response to the poisoning of former Russian spy Sergei Skripal and his daughter in the UK. European Council President Donald Tusk also said that 14 European Union (EU) member states had decided to expel Russian diplomats.
