Chinese President Xi Jinping has been interviewed by the Russian TASS news agency during his visit to the country, hailing the two countries’ increasingly close ties. Russian media has been widely reporting his comments.
Pavel Negoitsa, director of the Rossiyskaya Gazeta newspaper, said it has become customary for Xi to take interviews with Russian media during his visits. “Every interview with him is a big event for us because every visit means a higher level in our cooperation… It’s also very important to readers,” he said.
“China has been efficiently implementing its policies and has been planning for the future as well,” said Dmitry Kiselyov, head of the Rossiya Segodnya news agency. “I believe China and Russia have many more resources to explore and hence expand their cooperation into wider areas.”
According to Moscow-Beijing Journal commercial director Alexander Galumov, “Communications between the governments are growing and so too is economic and trade cooperation... The Belt and Road Initiative is the most promising proposal that our countries can work on. Our leaders share the same visions, so we can achieve new outcomes.”
