The European Union leaders meeting over a two-day summit in Brussels have agreed to boost efforts against terrorism.
European Council President Donald Tusk said counter-terrorism is a top priority.
"The European Council agreed to deepen our efforts against foreign terrorist fighters,”said Tusk. “We want to finalize works on the new border information-sharing systems this year.”
“And, if need be, we are also ready to adopt relevant legislation,” he added.
EU leaders are gathering to discuss a broad range of issues that include security and defense. Tusk told reporters the leaders also agreed it's necessary for the bloc to establish a permanent defense cooperation framework to cope with emergencies.
