Head of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL), Michael Beary, has praised China's contribution to global peace and security.
He made the remarks during the inauguration ceremony of a newly refurbished UN hospital which is operated by a UNIFIL medical team from China.
Beary said that UNIFIL was proud to work with more than 400 Chinese peacekeepers who have carried out construction work, ordnance clearance and medical missions.
The hospital complex, located inside UNIFIL's east headquarters in Lebanon, has provided medical services to both UNIFIL members and local Lebanese since 2007.
Since 2006, the Chinese contingent in UNIFIL, comprising 418 officers and soldiers, has contributed to landmine clearance operations in south Lebanon and undertaken road construction and school refurbishment projects.
