Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Hua Chunying said on Tuesday that China is willing to provide the Philippines with necessary assistance after Tropical Storm Tembin hit the Philippines, causing deaths and devastation across the southern parts of the country.
Over 200 people were killed in mudslides and floods triggered by Tembin. Some 176 people are still unaccounted for and tens of thousands are homeless.
“President Xi Jinping has sent condolences to his Philippine counterpart Rodrigo Duterte,” Hua said. “China is willing to offer necessary assistance and believes that the people of the Philippines will surely be able to overcome these difficulties and rebuild their homes.”
