A grand gala was held in Beijing on Friday evening in celebration of the 90th anniversary of the founding of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA).
Chinese President Xi Jinping and other senior leaders including Li Keqiang, Zhang Dejiang, Yu Zhengsheng, Liu Yunshan, Wang Qishan and Zhang Gaoli, were in attendance at the Great Hall of the People alongside 3000 people.
August 1 marks the 90th anniversary of the founding of China's armed forces.
The gala, hosting various performances including singing and dancing, showed how the PLA has developed from a small and vulnerable army, to a large and strong military power.
Right before the show, President Xi and other senior leaders met with representatives of veterans, retired comrades and military officers, who were then given the Order of August 1 (Bayi), the highest military award in the nation.
