At least 16 people were killed and 22 others injured when a passenger train crashed with a freight train in Egypt's northern Beheira province, according to local media.

Rescue workers and some 30 ambulances are working at the accident site.

Two cabins derailed from the passenger train and hit the cargo train in Kom Hamada district of Beheira, the province's Security Chief Alaa El-Din Abdel-Fattah said.
