We are but one week away from the kickoff of the World Cup in Russia, and the president of FIFA, Gianni Infantino has issued a warning to any hooligans that are hoping to attend, telling them to stay home. In a video released by the governing body, Infantino says Russian authorities were working in cooperation with police forces across the globe to ensure safety at the tournament, and outlined the measures to deal with discrimination.
GIANNI INFANTINO FIFA PRESIDENT "Yes, one week before kickoff I think we can say that Russia is 100 percent ready and the whole world will actually see in one week when we kick off on the 14th of June with Russia and Saudi Arabia.The Russian authorities are very much aware about the security situation at such a big event. They are working very hard to prepare it, they are working very hard in cooperation with police forces and police authorities of all governments. Every fan that is coming to Russia will be welcomed in a safe environment to celebrate. If anyone is thinking to come to Russia to create trouble, well then he'd better stay home."
