Xi Jinping, general secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC), and other members of the Standing Committee of the CPC Central Committee Political Bureau on Tuesday visited the replica of the “Red Boat” in Jiaxing, east China’s Zhejiang Province, a key site where the first CPC National Congress concluded decades ago. On July 23, 1921, 13 Chinese communists nationwide gathered in a French concession building at 76 Xingye Road in Shanghai to hold what would be CPC's 1st National Congress before it was interrupted by police. The congress was moved to a tourist boat, now known as the “Red Boat,” on the South Lake in Jiaxing. The resolutions of the congress called for the establishment of the CPC.
