Making a splash: German man swims to work to avoid traffic

Benjamin David was fed up with the stress of the morning commute on city roads choked with traffic so decided on an alternative route.
He now swims to work every day along the Isar River in Munich, Germany.
He packs his laptop, suit and shoes into a waterproof bag, straps it on his back and swims the 2 kilometers to work.
Depending on the season, he either wears swimming trunks or a wetsuit and rubber sandals to protect his feet.
His commute sometimes invites laughs from bystanders but he has also encouraged others to take the plunge and join him for a morning swim.
“It’s faster and more relaxing than sitting in traffic,” David said.
