The Chinese military said long-range missions conducted by the Air Force are not aimed at countering any other country.
A military spokesman said China will carry on with such military exercises, regardless of any harassment. The comment came after reports that China's bombers had been stalked by foreign jets during a mission conducted in the far seas.
But Shen Jinke, China’s Air Force spokesman, acknowledged that China's Air Force has dealt with all kinds of harassment and obstacles since the commencement of training for long-range missions three years ago. “Whatever obstacles lie ahead, we will continue our training. No matter who flies nearby to interfere, we will continue our exercises,” said Shen. “The Chinese Air Force will work to improve its performance of its mission to safeguard our sovereignty, national security and peaceful development."
