China's top legislature holds plenary meeting

The first session of the 13th National People's Congress (NPC) held a plenary meeting on Saturday in Beijing.
At the meeting, the lawmakers adopted a massive cabinet restructuring plan to make the government better structured, more efficient, and service-oriented.
Xi Jinping was elected Chinese president and chairman of the Central Military Commission of the People's Republic of China.
Wang Qishan was elected vice president of China.
Li Zhanshu was elected chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress.
Nearly 3,000 lawmakers also elected 14 vice chairpersons and the secretary-general of the NPC Standing Committee.
