China-Turkey Relations: Xi, Erdogan exchange views on bilateral ties, Syria in phone call

President Xi also held a phone call with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. He pointed out bilateral strategic and cooperative relations have been developing steadily and achieved positive results in various fields.
To deepen cooperation, President Xi said China and Turkey should better implement the Belt and Road Initiative and the Middle Corridor project. He added that both countries should make positive contributions to building a new type international relations and a community of shared future.
The current situation in Syria was also discussed. President Xi said all parties should act within the framework of international law, and respect the sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity of all countries.
On his part, Erdogan said Turkey is willing to strengthen communication and coordination with China.
