Shaped like the Tai Chi symbol, the Bijiang River runs through Yunlong County. The symbol was used by ancient Chinese to explain natural phenomena, showing the unity of opposites between yin and yang. Nestled along the river banks is Nuodeng Village, an ancient town that dates back to the Tang Dynasty. Three things make this village unique: culinary ham, traditional salt techniques and the local culture of the Bai people .
