We begin with the 17th Shangri-La Dialogue in Singapore. The summit enters into its third day today, and a fourth plenary session was held in the morning. In today's session, US Defense Secretary Jim Mattis said the DPRK will receive relief only after it shows "verifiable and irreversible" steps towards denuclearisation.
JAMES MATTIS US SECRETARY OF DEFENSE "We welcome the Panmunjom declaration for peace, prosperity and unification of the Korean peninsula that was announced in April, we can anticipate at best a bumpy road to the negotiations. We must remain vigilant and we will continue to implement all UN Security Council resolutions on North Korea. North Korea will receive relief only when it demonstrates verifiable and irreversible steps to denuclearisation."
