For some, 2017 will be remembered as the year of a disastrous summer box office for Hollywood’s major studios.
Costly epics like “King Arthur: Legend of the Sword” and “Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets” were costly flops, failing to recoup their production costs.
In contrast, the fortunes of online streaming services continue to rise with platforms like Netflix boasting 100 million users worldwide.
So has the era of the Hollywood blockbuster come to a close to be replaced by binge-watching at home?
