We head to merry old England now where in the town of Dorking, no really, the UK wife carrying championships took place. The winner gets a "berth" to carry their beloved on the world stage in Finland later this year, but this event was all about the British couples.
According to organizers, this sport started in 793 AD and was then later adopted by the Vikings some 900 years later. The boys from Scandinavia are said to have taken it "very seriously" and judging by the highlights, it's easy to see why. The carried half of the couple is required to weigh at least 50 kilograms with most competitors using the classic "Estonian carry" position for the race. Coming out on top is Chris Hepworth from London, with his partner Tanisha Prince, not coming out on top but still winning. Joking aside, the competition will now heat up in Finland, where the country's Olympic committee is still campaigning for it to become an Olympic sport -- I made that up.
