In Syria, pro-government forces have taken almost complete control of a key town in Eastern Ghouta, and are now pressing further into the rebel-held enclave. A pro-government force commander said fighting was continuing in al-Shayfouniya, without providing any more details.
Meanwhile, further north, Turkish warplanes have struck pro-Syrian government forces in the Afrin region, killing at least 36.
The Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces said the air-strikes targeted positions held by the Syrian army's popular forces, who are supporting the Kurdish militia against Turkey's offensive.
