Mount Mayon, the Philippines' most active volcano, continued to erupt on Tuesday, spewing red-hot lava and massive ash plumes. The volcano has been erupting for more than a week. The most powerful eruption so far was at noon on Monday, but the authorities warn that another violent eruption may occur soon and raised Mayon's alert level to four on a scale of five. Thousands of residents had to evacuate from the danger zone.
