Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov spoke in Moscow, as tension increased between Syria and Turkey over the Kurdish enclave of Afrin. Lavrov said the border conflict can be resolved through direct talks between the two governments.
Lavrov also stressed that all interested parties should work together to prevent any attempts to deepen regional chaos using Kurdish issues. In January this year, Turkey launched its "Olive Branch" military action in the Afrin area. Turkey said this action aims to fight against Syrian Kurdish forces and protect Turkey's border safety.
