The Court of Arbitration for Sport has rejected appeals by 45 Russian athletes and 2 coaches who were banned from PyeongChang Winter Olympic Games. The CAS handed down its rulings less than nine hours before the opening ceremony. The International Olympic Committee had refused to invite Russia, saying it had evidence of alleged doping. But an additional 168 Russians had been invited as "Olympic Athletes from Russia", competing in neutral uniforms under the Olympic flag.
